asu field hockey membership

Our team is more than just a hockey team. We are a community of friends and family. A partnership between ASU students and Phoenix community members, the Field Hockey Club at ASU prides itself on its diversity. We have members from all walks of life, from all parts of the world. We are doctors and lawyers, accountants and engineers. We are Indian and American, Vietnamese, Guyanese, South African, Argentinean, Pakistani, British, Peruvian, Cubans, and Kiwis . Some of us have played for years, others for just a few days. In the end, the ties that bind us are a love for the game and a respect for one another. We are a team, in every sense of the word, and we are proud of it.

Who can be a member?
The ASU Field Hockey Club is a partnership between ASU students and Phoenix area community members. Thus, membership is open to any undergraduate, graduate or doctoral student currently enrolled at ASU, and/or to any community member wishing to play.

What are the responsibilities of members?
Members are asked to make a reasonable commitment to the team. This will vary, of course, from person to person, but on the whole, members are asked to regularly attend practices, participate in fundraising, social, and team-building events, and promote the team both on- and off-campus. Beyond that, we're just out to play hockey and have fun!

What are the benefits of membership?
Obviously, being a member means that you are able to practice regularly with the team on the ASU AstroTurf field and the Indoor facilities during the summer. Additionally, membership enables you the opportunity to attend any tournament, social event, or other occasion that the team may enter or sponsor.

How to Join?
Joining is simple. Just come to any of our designated practices (check the practice news section on the home page for location/time updates). If you like, come ready to play in your athletic clothing (shorts, t-shirt, running/trail shoes). The club has extra sticks and gear to loan you so that you can get started. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact any of the people listed on the contact page.
